The Florida Freedom Tour, a Mobile History Museum initiative designed to bring Florida’s history directly to communities across the state. The Mobile Museum is an 18-wheeler traveling museum touring Florida to celebrate America's 250th anniversary. Beginning May 1st and running through August 1st, the tour will feature two repurposed 18-wheelers transformed into traveling museums, showcasing exhibits and artifacts from the Museum of Florida History. The mobile museums will travel to all 67 counties across Florida and provides interactive exhibits highlighting Florida’s role in American history before and after 1776. In honor of our nation's first President and Founding Father, George Washington, the State of Florida will be declaring an official state holiday on Monday, February 16, 2026. State offices will be closed, and Floridians are encouraged to get out and celebrate our state's history and American heritage. All state managed lands will offer free admission for Floridians from February 13-16. First in War, First in Peace, and First in the Hearts of His Countrymen—George Washington left an indelible mark on the shape and destiny of our beloved country.
The America 250 Florida Duel at DAYTONA will take place at the start of Speedweeks to celebrate Florida’s rich history in racing as part of America 250. The event will highlight the important role that the Daytona 500 has played in Florida's motor history. Drivers will fight for their starting position in the 68th running of the DAYTONA 500. Following the America 250 Florida Duel at DAYTONA and other races during Speedweeks leading up to the DAYTONA 500, the Florida Department of Transportation will be onsite at the Speedway promoting safety information and tips to race fans..
A big part of Florida's heritage is golf! Florida is celebrating its legacy of tourism, travel, the outdoors, and the great sport of golf by announcing the America250FL Golf Trail, to include all public courses in the state plus interested private courses who will partner with America 250 theming and celebrations. Look out for the America250FL white logo on the flag of the 14th green for participating courses.
The America250FL Art Contest is open to all Florida students in grades K-5. Six winners will be selected, and each winner will receive a 2-year Florida College Plan scholarship provided by the Florida Prepaid College Foundation.
